Description:
David Gardella, an engineer with the Jackson Volunteer Fire Department, was killed when he stepped on a high voltage powerline while suppressing the Raggio Road Fire near Jackson, California. Gardella was suppressing the grass fire with a backpack pump on the night of June 8, working in steep terrain, when he stepped on a 12,000 volt line lying on the ground.
