Description:
At approximately 1645 hours on April 25, 1984, on the Rainbow Springs Fire, four miles southwest of Mena, Arkansas, two U.S. Forest Service employees, Thurman Paul Keener, Jr. and James H. Frizzell lost their lives while using a tractor to construct fireline when the fire blew up. Both victims died of asphyxiation and burns. They were both Forestry Technicians from the Poteau Ranger District, Ouachita National Forest.
