    Herbert Cook, the 57-year-old Superintendent of the Northern Wyoming Land Company, died suddenly while employed by the Bighorn National Forest suppressing a fire on Rock Creek north of Buffalo, Wyoming. Cook was one of hundreds of firefighters, including Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crews, ranchers and "dudes" assigned to this fire. Cook was apparently the victim of a heart attack.
