Description:
At approximately 1730 on June 2, 1972, a Rockwell Aero Commander 500-A registered N140X crashed while performing aerial supervision duties on a fire near Safford, Arizona. There were no witnesses to the accident, and the investigation report from the NTSB is extremely brief. The plane entered an uncontrolled descent in mountainous terrain and struck the ground in a steep nose down attitude. Both on board were killed.
