    On June 10, 1997, at 0938, a North American-Rockwell OV-10A Bronco, N94LM, was destroyed when it impacted the side of a hill southeast of Hollister, California, one mile east of CDF Bear Valley Station. The pilot, David Robert Kyle, was fatally injured. The flight departed from Meadows Field, Bakersfield, California, on a local training flight and was being operated by the Bureau of Land Management as a public-use aircraft. Kyle, an experienced helicopter and fixed wing pilot, had logged just 21 hours on this aircraft type; this was cited as a factor in the accident.
