Description:
A wildland firefighter engaged in fire suppression actions on the Schroeder Fire, located near Rapid City, South Dakota, was overcome with smoke inhalation and had an asthma attack. The firefighter lost consciousness. Once revived, the individual had difficulty breathing. The firefighter was transported via Rapid City Ambulance to a medical facility. The individual was treated and released the same day. X-rays were taken and indicated that the lungs were clear and functioning well.
