Pilot Harold D. Slay of Wright Flyte Service and Coconino National Forest, Flagstaff District Ranger Rollo Julander were killed in an aircraft accident while observing the Secret Mountain Fire (also recorded as the Slide Fire) near Sedona, Arizona. The two men had taken off from Flagstaff in a Cessna 206A registered N2688X. At 1410 the aircraft struck trees and crashed, resulted in fatal injuries to both occupants. The NTSB final report summary indicates there was no engine malfunction, but does not give a cause for the accident.
