    Albert Bomer was killed by a falling tree on a forest fire on the Shasta National Forest, sometime in mid-August of 1937. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) stationed at Camp Leaf in Siskiyou County south of MacDoel. Very few details of his death are readily available. Considering the fire activity in Northern California in 1937, he was likely killed on a small initial-attack fire. According to media reports, Bomer suffered a skull fracture and other injuries from the accident.
