Description:
On September 26, 1978, 21-year-old California Department of Forestry (CDF, now CAL FIRE) Timothy J. Holsinger succumbed to heat stroke while assigned to a prescribed fire on the Shasta Ranger Unit near Redding, California. Air temperature on the day of the burn was about 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Holsinger had been assigned to the Humboldt Ranger Unit.
