    A Forest Service Region 1 smokejumper trainee was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis (rhabdo) on the second day of initial smokejumper training in Idaho. Because the program and parties involved were familiar with rhabdo and took timely action, the firefighter received appropriate medical care in time to prevent the case from becoming a more serious medical emergency with the potential for long-term effects.
