Snowbird Creek Fire Hit by Tree Fatality 1931

John Moss, a 64-year-old rancher from Carlin Bay on Coeur d'Alene Lake, Idaho, was killed by a falling tree on the Snowbird Creek Fire on the Coeur d'Alene National Forest. Moss was transported by stretcher from the fire line but succumbed to his injuries, described in his death certificate as a "crushed chest" about a half hour later.
