Description:
John Moss, a 64-year-old rancher from Carlin Bay on Coeur d'Alene Lake, Idaho, was killed by a falling tree on the Snowbird Creek Fire on the Coeur d'Alene National Forest. Moss was transported by stretcher from the fireline. Approximately one-half later, he died of his injuries--described in his death certificate as a "crushed chest."
Other sources call this fire the Magee Fire; Snowbird Creek drains the north side of Magee Peak.
