South 1 Fire 2008

At approximately 1325 hours on June 27, 2008, Engine 242 was moping-up on the South 1 Fire when a snag struck the Engine Boss. The firefighter received injuries to their left eye/face and left shoulder. The medical unit was notified and the medical plan was implemented. Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Ambulance County was called to transport the injured crew member. After retrieving the patient, at 1427 hours, the ambulance personnel requested an air ambulance. The helicopter landed at ICP at 1448 hours and flew the patient to the Sentara Norfolk General Trauma Center.
