South Fork Complex Heavy Equipment Rollover 2014

August 9, 2014 on Division D of the South Fork Complex, one of the many operations included using heavy equipment to prep a Forest Service road system for possible burn-out operations upslope of the main fire. Among the equipment doing this work was a Hydo-Ax, which was brushing the side of the road. The machine came to a steep slope but continued as the operator felt it was just a short stretch. The roadside gave way and the machine rolled over. The operator was able to extricate himself from the Hydro-Ax.
