Spokane County Fire District #9 Fall Fatality 2021

On Aug. 26, 2021, Lieutenant/Paramedic Traber was on-duty at Fire Station 92 in Spokane County, Washington. At approximately 9:43 p.m., Lieutenant/Paramedic Traber responded on E92 to a report of a brush fire near State Route 395 and Wandermere Road. E92 arrived on scene at approximately 9:49 p.m. and parked on the State Route 395 overpass above the entrance to the Little Spokane Valley. Lieutenant/Paramedic Traber exited E92 to begin searching for signs of the reported brush fire. Shortly thereafter, he fell from the overpass. He was located a short time later beneath the overpass. Lieutenant/Paramedic Traber was confirmed deceased having fallen 210 feet from the overpass.
