Description:
During helitorch operations on the St. Joe Divide Prescribed Fire on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, discarded helitorch gel ignited. During suppression actions to extinguish the burning gel, a wildland firefighter received minor 2nd degree burns to the hand. The individual, treated by county medical personnel and a U.S. Forest Service EMT, remained on scene until operations were complete. The employee was later evaluated and treated at a local hospital then returned to work.
