Description:
On July 27, 2006, a Forest Ranger in the Tallahassee District was involved in a burnover incident. The Ranger was plowing on the right flank of the fire in an enclosed cab JD650 when she was overtaken by smoke. Unable to see, the Ranger's tractor became hung up on some trees and was burned over while the Ranger was in the tractor's cab. With assistance from other personnel on the scene, she exited the tractor. After exiting and moving toward the safety zone, the Ranger fell forward. She landed on her hands and received second-degree burns on one hand and minor burns on the other hand and face. The Ranger was airlifted to the hospital where she was diagnosed to be in stable condition and was released later that day.
