Tamarack Springs Fire Hit by Tree 2023

During initial attack operations on the Tamarack Springs Fire, Umatilla National Forest, Washington, a hand crew member was struck when the top of a snag fell. The injured firefighter was transported by agency vehicle to an ambulance, and then to the hospital in Lewiston, Idaho. At the hospital, a third degree burn on the upper back was identified and the firefighter was further transported to the burn center at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Treatment and recovery is ongoing.
