Description:
On the Taylor Fire of the Garner Mountain Complex near Grants Pass, Oregon a contract firefighter was cutting a six-inch dead madrone tree that fell back onto the firefighter, knocking him to the ground--then he rolled down a hill. The contract crew stabilized the firefighter using a backboard. He was taken to a hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken C6 vertebrae. The patient was hospitalized for three days.
