In August 1933, a large forested area of northwestern Oregon largely constrained to Tillamook County burned. The fire was the first of the expansive wildland fires in the area that came to collectively be called "The Tillamook Burn." The same or adjacent areas burned in subsequent large fires in 1939, 1945 and 1951.
