Trinity Fire Smokey Bear Hotshot Heat Related Illness 2019

    On the Trinity Fire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, a Smokey Bear Hotshot Crew member began showing signs of a HRI (heat-related illness)—cramping and dehydration. U.S. Forest Service EMTs assisted getting the Firefighter to an ALS ambulance. The Firefighter was then driven to a local hospital. The Firefighter received multiple bags of fluid and was then released.
