Truckee River Fire Hit by Rock Fatality 1924

Karl Rosel, a Canadian citizen working as a superintendent at a paper mill in Floriston, California, was killed by a falling rock while directing firefighting forces on a fire located along the Truckee River. This unnamed fire ultimately burned 15,000 acres in California and an unknown area in Nevada, as the fire burned directly adjacent to the state border. Rosel was struck on the head by a large rock. His skull was fractured. Soon after, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
