Description:
Herbert Segress, a long-time employee of the California Department of Forestry (now CAL FIRE), died suddenly on the evening of June 20, 1953 of an apparent heart attack. Segress was a Dispatcher at the Tulare Ranger Unit Dispatch Office in Visalia. At approximately 2030 hours during his shift, he was asked to take a rest break. He went to the attached barracks to rest. A few minutes later, he was found there, deceased. Segress, 57, had previously been an Engine Operator and Crew Foremen in Porterville, California. He was a veteran of World War I.
