Description:
A hand crew member sustained a second-degree burn injury to the arm while on the Uncle Morris Prescribed Fire, Clearwater National Forest, Idaho. The crew member was hiking through the black at the end of the shift when the individual slipped and fell. The right hand/arm above the glove contacted a small ash pit, causing burns to the wrist/forearm. A crew EMTB provided initial treatment and escorted the injured firefighter to rendezvous with the ambulance for hospital transport. The local hospital medical professional consulted with the Seattle burn center, and a determination was made that a burn center visit was not necessary or recommended. The patient was treated and released later that evening and is recovering at home per last report.
