  • Description:

    A handcrew member assigned to the Wallow Fire, Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest, Idaho, was injured while operating a chainsaw during indirect line construction. The crewmember slipped on a cut bank and fell on the chainsaw, cutting an approximately 3” gash on the upper wrist. A crew EMTB provided initial treatment, then escorted the injured crew member to the hospital via agency helicopter. The crewmember had surgery to repair the damaged tendons then was released, expected to have a full recovery.
