Description:
A crewmember on an R1 engine crew was digging fireline on the Watch Valley Fire, San Carlos BIA, while working in close proximity to Type 1 helicopters. The area consisted of high traffic and dust. Crewmember inhaled fungal spores found in the ground and released into the air when disturbed. Employee visited the emergency room initially followed by doctor and lung specialist visits. The employee did receive a positive test result for Valley Fever.
