Wolf Creek Fire Burn Injury 2024

    A crewmember on an Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC) was felling a tree in hot ash and sustained burn injuries to feet while assigned to the Wolf Creek Fire, Payette National Forest, Idaho. The injury, which took some time to emerge, was initially assessed by crew EMT and then line medic as a green medical (blistering) and treated on site. The following day (8/4) it was re-assessed as a yellow burn injury and patient was transported to a local hospital in Cascade, ID. The local hospital conducted a virtual consultation with the University of Utah Burn Center. He was diagnosed with second degree/partial thickness burns to both feet. The crewmember rested for several days before travelling home on 8/7/24 with instructions to rest and follow-up with the University of Utah Burn Center.
