    On June 25, 2007, smokejumpers were dispatched by the Gila National Forest to the Gila Wilderness Area to assist with structure protection of the historic Pryor Cabin and to conduct lookout operations for the Yellowstone Fire Use Module on the Woodland Wildland Fire Use incident. During this mission, at approximately 11:45 a.m., two smokejumpers were injured when their parachute canopies collided above the ground. One smokejumper sustained minor injuries, was given first aid, and required no further medical treatment. The other smokejumper sustained multiple injuries and was transported by helicopter to the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, New Mexico. After initial medical assessment at the hospital, the patient was then transported by helicopter to a trauma center in El Paso, Texas.
