Description:
James Barden, a firefighter employed by the Flathead National Forest, was killed September 3, 1914, by a falling tree while assigned to a fire on Wounded Buck Creek south of Hungry Horse, Montana. It is believed the tree that struck Barden had burned out at the base and fell without warning, striking him on the head.
