Wye Fire Burn Injury 2012

On Sunday, August 12, 2012 at approximately 2115 hours, a hand crew was assigned to assist with a firing operation on Division X, during initial attack. While the firing operation was in progress a spot fire occurred. The hand crew attempted to suppress the spot fire; however, the firing operation was unsuccessful due to fire behavior. While retreating to their safety zone, an inmate firefighter assigned to the hand crew sustained first degree burns to his face. The inmate firefighter was transported to UC Davis Burn Center for further evaluation where he was treated and released.
