    On July 13, a knee injury left a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crewmember unable to hike out of the field. A U.S. Forest Service Wildland Fire Module and a County Search and Rescue unit assisted in carrying out the crewmember. This RLS tells the story of the 12-hour medical evacuation that transpired after this injury occurred.

    The purpose of this RLS is not only to understand this event and the conditions that influenced it, but to also put you directly into these peoples’ shoes to consider what you can learn from their experience that will enhance your success if you happen to find yourself in a similar situation.
